How to transfer a Model / Rule between environments
When you export a model from the Unit21 dashboard, you can import it back into the system.
This is particularly useful when you have tested a rule and sandbox and you are ready to deploy it to the production server.
- Go to the Detection Models page and select the Model / Rule to export from the table:
- Click Export Rules:

- A .txt file will be downloaded to your Downloads folder:

DO NOT MODIFY THE FILE!
This file is encrypted and cannot be modified or created from scratch. This is done to protect rules that may contain PII.
- Go to the next environments Detection Models page and click on Import Rules:

- Drag-and-drop the encrypted .txt file in the prompt:

- Click Upload:

The rule will be automatically validated but NOT deployed:

If you are satisfied with the upload, you can deploy the rule in the new system.
