How to transfer a Model / Rule between environments

When you export a model from the Unit21 dashboard, you can import it back into the system.

This is particularly useful when you have tested a rule and sandbox and you are ready to deploy it to the production server.

1. Go to the Detection Models page and select the Model / Rule to export from the table:
2. Click Export Rules:

3. A .txt file will be downloaded to your Downloads folder:

DO NOT MODIFY THE FILE!

This file is encrypted and cannot be modified or created from scratch. This is done to protect rules that may contain PII.

4. Go to the next environments Detection Models page and click on Import Rules:

5. Drag-and-drop the encrypted .txt file in the prompt:

6. Click Upload:

The rule will be automatically validated but NOT deployed:

If you are satisfied with the upload, you can deploy the rule in the new system.
